Jay W.'s Story

Life Hello, my wife and I were blessed with two daughters. Our oldest has five children and one great-grandchild. Can you say Great Grandpa. I work for the Town of Henrietta, 39 years plus, bought my parent's house. I am in good health. For some reason, my hair isn't as dark as it used to be. Come to think of it there is not too much left to be dark. WOW, I look forward to spending time with my grandchildren and teaching them about the plan and purpose God has for them. To go back some years...I went through a terrible time early in 1990. I was moments away from taking my life. My wife and I were friends with a married couple, our children were about the same ages. They also had two. The wife of this couple, I'll call her Marilyn. As I was going through this time of agony in my mind, I gave Marilyn a call to see if she could help me sort things out. She wouldn't tell me what my wife was telling her but told me Jesus could help me. At that time I was willing to try anything. I had gone to church my whole life, my parents gave me a Bible at ten years old (never took time to read it enough to see how much God loves me), sang in the choir, asked Jesus into my heart was water baptized. All that stuff. Marilyn suggested to me to start by reading the Gospel of John. I remember opening the Bible when I got it at ten years of age, Started reading the Gospel of Matthew. When I got to the begots I closed it up, not to open it again for thirty years. I read the Gospel of John, I saw Jesus telling people about His Kingdom, about parables. He wasn't hurting anyone that I could see. I would keep calling Marilyn asking questions about what I was seeing in the Word. She invited me to her church, so I went. They gave me an NIV Study Bible that didn't have the thees and thous in it. So I started reading at the beginning of the New Testament. Kept going from there...Mark, Luke, John again. Then Acts, Romans. As I was reading 1 & 2 Corinthians I could see the difference between the world and the Kingdom of God. I started talking to God, telling Him I didn't know, and that I was sorry then the tears started, at the same time, I felt like I was very light. Like I was floating. Know I know it was my sins being forgiven. I no longer have to carry the guilt of my past mistakes and failures around with me. To my amazement, God r...Expand for more
evealed Himself to me through His son Jesus Christ. He has forgiven me of my sins and given me a future and a hope. Do you have an assurance of Eternal Life? John 3:16- 1 John 5:13 Let me ask you a few questions. Have you ever given God the time to speak to you through His Living Word (Jesus Christ)? If you have, has He shown you how much He loves you? Are you confident of your salvation? Just a reminder, you don't enter Heaven by being a good person! John 3:3- You need to be born again. Not in the flesh, but in the spirit. If you have not met God through Jesus Christ and received Him as Lord of your life, you belong to Satan. (I do not say this in anger at all), Satan is the deceiver. Satan wants to keep you in darkness and allow you to think you don't need to do anything concerning Jesus. God is offering to you TODAY eternal life through His Son Jesus who paid the price for your sins and mine. Remember the cross... do you know why Jesus allowed Himself to be crucified? He loves us so much He was willing to die in our place. Have you ever told a lie? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever looked at a person with lust? Do you love anything more than you do Jesus? If God were to judge you by the Ten Commandments would you be innocent or guilty? Being guilty of one of the above, the sentence would be, to be cast into the lake of fire that burns forever and ever. The tears came down my face when I read this. I just didn't know how serious it was. If something terrible was about to happen and you or your loved ones would be hurt. Would you be angry with me if I warned you ahead of time and you were able to be saved from that tragedy? JESUS MAN!! RECEIVE HIM NOW! If you need someone to talk to, I will listen. You have a friend in Jesus. God bless you. "BE ENCOURAGED" Workplace I started out working at Wegmans in Henrietta, NY. (1967) Next, I went to work for Jim's Esso on East Henrietta Rd. (1969) From there I was hired at G and D Collision, Inc. (1970) Then a few months with A to Z Remodeling in Hilton, NY. (1979) I was employed by the Town of Henrietta, NY. Working in the General Service Garage. Plowing and Salting the roads when that season comes each year. :) I retired from the Town of Henrietta on June 29th, 2020. I also started JAY SHOOTS SERVICES, a hauling service in 1993. All are doing well.
